Mustang Sally
I grew up going to my dads house in, Ojai CA, on the weekends and during my summer vacations.
He had it all for us girls at his house. He had chickens, ducks, horses and a pool.
My sisters all went towards the girly route of laying by the pool to get their tan on.. Me, being the, Tom Boy, that I was, went straight towards the chickens and the horses.
We had two horses and a pony named, Trigger.. Loved that little guy.
I'm now 42 and I can remember those days with fond memories.
I also remember telling my older sisters to not get on the horses because they knew they didn't like them. Of course my sisters would not listen to me.. Who was I to tell them what to do. Pfft.
As one would get on, one would fly off as Silver Star would buck her off.. Hmmm ... Instert, "I told you so" would fit in perfectly here.
The other would get on and have the horse bolt down the street to the local private school, Villanova School.. To where all the family is running down the street to save them from the wild horse.. hahaha
I think they should stick to laying by the pool.
So now that I have children of my own.. I was talking to a friend of mine and horses came up.
To make a long story short. We started looking for a free horse. It took about a month until we were met up with the horse that we would call, Sally.
She adores our youngest son, Michael, who pretty much takes great care of her. My oldest, reminds me of my sisters when I was younger.. Just not that interested.
Sally will watch Michaels every move.
We are still very new at being horse owners and still have our scary moments where she will get out of hand but when that happens I just take her right back to her stall and we regroup.
We start our first lessons with her next week and I'm sure we will be on the road to greatness soon.
Stay tuned.
